A good essay is not always based on a good and just cause, but it should add something to the points you are trying to prove. You should be able to write a topic that features both sides and even alternative opinions.Make sure the information is present and supported. The information you use should be factual and should support your points in some way. If not, you will end up in explaining the facts from your own viewpoint and this is not an effective way to gain the attention of your audience.
